Wooden Shutters for the second floor:

The client wanted appropriate shutters for this 1903 Victorian home.  Existing shutters were not proportioned correctly,  and did not present proper hardware.  I built and painted these 3 pairs out of Spanish Cedar, (actually a Mahogany!) and installed them with appropriate hardware.  Shutter style was 2 raised panels per shutter with 1 1/2" storm hinges, and medium size bench dogs to hold shutters securely.

Mirror Transom

In an attempt to open up rooms in an already spacious 3 room configuration, the client here had me design mirrors to be installed directly over the doorways.  The intent was to create the illusion that a transom was in place over each doorway, thus making the room appear to be even more spacious.  A total of 9 such mirrors were ordered and installed, ranging in size from 4 to 9 feet long.  It was imperative that the mirror mouldings matched exactly the existing trim around each doorway to carry out the illusion!  Mullions were applied with a 2-part super glue and mirrors were glued to 1/4" plywood backing, framed by the additional moulding.  The effect was stunning.

Two Different Tables:

On the left, the client had the two ends of this Mahogany table remaining, but wanted me to build two leafs that
would replace the two original leafs lost over the years.  Client was not concerned with matching colors as
they planned to use it with a tablecloth.  They were concerned about the leafs' fit into the piece and matching the overall shape and pattern.

On the right, I made a round table of pie-shaped oak pieces for my own use.  We liked the table so much, I made two subsequent leafs and added them to the original, still using the pie shape as a design motif.  The result was a beautiful natural oak 9' dinner table we used for years.
